Recovery Project リハビリセンター(アメリカ)
Charlie Parkhill is the co-founder of The Recovery Project, an organization dedicated to improving the lives and functionality of individuals with spinal cord and neurological injuries by providing an environment in which they may rehabilitate, recover, and stay fit.
Charlie believes, from personal experience, that aggressive physical therapy can make life better for people with these injuries.
The Recovery Project maintains two facilities in the Detroit area. When it came time to remodel one of the gyms in a relatively low-ceilinged room, Charlie turned to The Sky Factory for an expansive ceiling solution.
"During the design process, I wanted a ‘half-barrel' arch ceiling running the length of the main gym floor, opening up the space, giving some height and airiness. Once we opened the grid ceiling, we realized we only had an average of 6" above the grid and a very costly proposition to change the situation."
"I came in on a dark day and the 8' ceiling just seemed to close in on us. I decided to take another shot at an interesting ceiling and went to the Internet where I found The Sky Factory's SkyCeiling products. I spoke with Aaron Birlson, one of the company's ‘Sky Designers,' and got a sample tile sent to me."
"Our limitations above the grid would not allow us to consider The Sky Factory's Luminous SkyCeilings as an option, but the Ambient SkyCeiling was an ideal solution. I came across the Armstrong Axiom™ Knife Edge Perimeter Trim product and used it to further accentuate the SkyCeiling.
"I still need to add some imaginative lighting, but the SkyCeiling is a very popular feature — it makes the place even more attractive and comfortable for those who come to work, workout, and change lives."
